It is always a wise thing to be prepared for an interview. Being armed with confidence, thorough knowledge about the subject and of course a set of questions to ask the interviewer. What do I mean, when I say prepared? Think back to an exam that you answered in your studying years. Did you not prepare for it? Similarly, one has to be prepared for an interview. College had you studying through books and the like, your interview might need you to display expertise over your subject. But a job interview does not automatically convert to putting you on the spot, with spotlights aimed at you. Of course not. It is, in fact, a setting whereby the management and you can find out through interaction whether or not you can fit into the company scenario. Which then translates to the fact that you need to clear your doubts as well. This you can do by preparing a list of good questions to ask an interviewer. Because, having a list of questions that you can ask an interviewer during an interview, not only shows that you're proactive but also that you're confident.
Write what they want to read. This does not mean that you lie. However, do not make a generalized resume and send it out to all companies. That is a silly mistake that many people make. Make an effort to modify it specifically for the company. Do a little bit of research, find out what the company wants from their employees, and then accordingly, draft one. For instance, if you are applying for a job as a counselor in an IT training organization, the objective cannot be the same as when you are applying for a job as a counselor in a management institute. Be specific; it shows that you are keen on the company, and then the company will be keen on you.
